Arriving at Donington Park the penultimate round, Daire's goal was to consolidate his championship lead. Qualifying was difficult due to the lack of track time,with wet testing on Friday.
Daire still managed 2nd for race one and 3rd for race two.
Race 1 was the best of the season for excitement as there was action throughout the field on each lap. Daire got of the line and held station in second, after lap 3, he took the lead into Redgate Corner. Stretching his lead entertaining at The Old Hairpin the car stepped out on debris on the track demoting Daire to 3rd with 2 laps to go. With a brave move around the Craner Curves he took 2nd. As the field bunched on the last lap, Daire tried a move around the outside on the final corner to cross the line 0.03 behind the leader in 2nd confirmed with a phto on the finish line.
Race 2 Daire started 3rd, after getting a good start and challenging for first the gap narrowed and wisely settled for 3rd. He was promoted to 2nd when his main revival made an unforced error. Over the course of the next few laps Daire tried to take the lead until he was pushed onto the grass demoting him to 3rd. With a large gap to 2nd he settle for 3rd.
Daire said " My aim was to beat my main competitor in the championship which I did. I'm looking forward to Brands Hatch with a 28 point lead, with double points in each race the championship is still in the balance. I would like to thank Sub Zero in Dublin for sponsoring me for the last 2 rounds of the season.
With double points at Brands Hatch for the last round the Junior Saloon Car Championship will not be decided until the last race of the year on November 5th,. This can be viewed by the BARC live stream service on Utube. Races are on the 4th& 5th November in the morning sessions.
